Attendance at RISE
Perseverance, self-discipline and determination will enable all of our students to succeed at RISE and beyond. Attendance is vital to support social interaction and achievement. It’s a well-established fact that poor attendance can have a negative impact on academic progress. Good attendance also shows colleges and potential employers that your child is reliable.
We are all working together to ensure that students achieve their maximum academic potential and we expect that all students aim to achieve this through attending their provided sessions.
Arriving punctually is a key part in being ready to learn. All students should arrive promptly for their arranged sessions. Students arriving late repeatedly without acceptable reason may be issued with a Late Penalty Notice.
Absence from RISE
If your son or daughter is absent please inform us by telephone or in person as soon as possible, ideally before 9am on the day of absence. Please call the provision direct and leave a clear message detailing your child’s name and reason for absence. This should be done for every day that your child is absent. For lengthy or repeated absences you may be asked to provide a medical note from your Doctor. Unexplained absences will be followed up by the Attendance Officer at RISE or the Education Welfare Officer. If your child receives transportation from RBWM please also inform the taxi service provider.
We ask parents to make every effort to arrange routine dental and medical appointments outside school hours as it can be very disruptive to learning as well as impacting on the student’s attendance target. We do recognise that this is not always possible and that emergency visits are sometimes necessary.
